Bioculture explained
Bioculture is a selected consortium of beneficial microorganisms used to support biological wastewater treatment. Under suitable conditions, the microorganisms convert compatible biodegradable organic matter into simpler products and new biomass.
What bioculture can and cannot treat
Bioculture can support treatment of biodegradable organic loads found in domestic sewage and compatible industrial effluent. It is not a universal treatment for heavy metals, high salinity, toxic solvents, persistent colour or every dissolved contaminant. Those streams may require segregation, physicochemical treatment or advanced polishing.
Conditions microorganisms need
Performance depends on pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen or anaerobic conditions, nutrients, retention time, loading and the health of existing biomass. Product selection should follow wastewater analysis rather than a generic dose.
Where it is used
Bioculture may support ETP aeration tanks, STP biological reactors, anaerobic digesters and controlled composting systems. Each application needs a culture selected for its process environment.
